Alex Eala aims for success at the Sao Paulo Open tennis tournament

Alex Eala is set to continue her pursuit of tennis success as she prepares for the Sao Paulo Open from September 8-14, 2025. Despite facing a setback in the US Open, where she was eliminated in the second round, Eala remains optimistic about her future in professional tennis. Currently ranked World No. 75, Eala is focused on another fresh start following her loss to Cristina Bucsa of Spain.

In her recent performance at the US Open, Eala showed promise with a notable win against world No. 15 Clara Tauson before falling short against Bucsa, despite being in control during parts of both sets.

This year has been significant for Eala, who made history by competing in all four Grand Slam tournaments, becoming the first Filipina to win a match at the US Open and earning a substantial cash prize of approximately P8.7 million. Eala also reached the semifinals in three professional tournaments, marking her as a formidable player on the WTA tour.

With goals to break into the Top 100, compete in Grand Slam main draws, and capture another professional title, Eala is determined to translate her experiences from the previous season into success on the court. After graduating from the Rafael Nadal Academy, Eala aims to claim her elusive pro title this year and continues to build on her legacy in Philippine tennis as she heads to Brazil for the upcoming tournament.
